Cornflake burger with bacon chips and caramelized onion

A juicy cornflake-coated burger served with crispy bacon chips and sweet caramelized onions. Every bite combines crunch, smoky bacon flavor, and onion sweetness – a perfect choice for gourmet burger lovers.

ingredients:

  • 1 burger bun (buttery or brioche)
  • 1 Chef Patrick’s Cornflake burger 
  • 1 slice cheddar cheese
  • 2 slices pickled cucumber
  • 1 tbsp crispy fried onions
  • 1 tbsp mayonnaise

Bacon chips

  • 2 slices bacon

Caramelized onion

  • ½ red onion
  • 1 tsp butter
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp balsamic vinegar

preparation:

Burger

  • Deep-fry in hot oil (180°C) for 3–4 minutes.
  • If deep-frying: add the cheese later when assembling the burger.
  • If pan-frying: place the cheddar slice on top for the last 30 seconds to melt.

Bacon chips

  • Place bacon slices in a cold pan. Cook over medium heat until crispy and golden.
  • Drain on paper towel.

Caramelized onion

  • Slice the onion into thin strips.
  • Sauté in butter over low heat for about 5 minutes.
  • Add sugar and vinegar, cook 3 more minutes until soft and sticky.

Assembly

  • Slice and toast the bun.
  • Spread mayonnaise on the bottom half.
  • Place the burger with cheese.
  • Add caramelized onion, bacon chips, pickled cucumber, and crispy onions.
  • Cover with the top bun and serve immediately.

Garnish
Serve with fries or coleslaw. A drizzle of BBQ sauce works perfectly.
